Look for the PostSecret Drop box...

PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where peoplemail in/drop off their secrets anonymously on one side of a postcard. The Tulare County Library Teen Department is participating in a statewide collection of teen postcards/secrets to be displayed at the annual library conference and then mailed to Frank Warren. These postcards might be posted on his website or one of his future books.

Please do not put your name on postcards submitted!

*According to Youth Trends' February 2008 "Top Ten List Report" PostSecret was the 10th most popular site amongst female students in the USA, with 7% of those polled naming the site as their favorite.

Twilight Prom was a hit!!!

Thank you for the emails today!
I have received so many emails today from teens/parents, thanking me for the prom and saying that they had a great time last night! Yay!
If anyone has photos from last night...would you please email a copy of the photos to me for our scrapbook (visaliaya@yahoo.com). If you do post your photos on flickr, would you also add the tags " Tulare County Library", "library", "prom" or "twilight prom" so that other teens/libraries can see the event and perhaps have one at their library as well. Thanks!
I would love to hear your thoughts about the prom and how we can improve teen programs in the future! This was the library's first large teen program and we are still figuring out what does and doesn't work for teen programs.
How did your friends respond to the prom? Did you hear positive/negative comments?
If we set up a teen activity committee/council for the library, would you or your friends be interested in joining it to help with future teen events?
Please email (visaliaya@yahoo.com) and let me know what you thought of the prom and what we can do for future teen programs to make them even better.

Thanks again...for making last night, an amazing night. :)

More questions answered...

Q: Can I come dressed up like a character from the books?
A: yes

Q:Do I need to come down and get a ticket before the prom?
A: No, if you already have library card you can sign up via email (visaliaya@yahoo.com) or by calling (713-2732). If you do not have a library card you will need to go to a library branch in Tulare County and get one(if you are under 18 you will need a parent with you). Library cards are free...

Q: I had a library card, but I can't find it...what can I do?
A: Email or call and we will look you up on the computer to be on the guest list. As long as you are in the system, you will not need the card in hand that night.

Q: It's Friday (the day of the prom!) and the Visalia Library is closed!!! How do I get a library card so that I can call to get on the guest list? Is it too late?
A: **As long as there are openings on the guest list** we will be accepting calls and emails (the emails will *have* to be confirmed with a email response from us) until 6pm. Many of our other library branches are open on Friday: Exeter, Lindsay, Dinuba, Three Rivers, Woodlake, Orosi, Pixley, etc.
**We will not be accepting calls or emails after 6pm on Friday**

Q:I live in Porterville or Tulare and I have a library card from that city library...can I still attend this event?
A: Yes, you can use that library card to be put on the list for the prom. :)

Q: Since the library will be closed to the public, where will we enter the building for the prom?
A: You will enter/exit out of the green gated area by the Children's wing (corner of Locust and Oak Ave.).
